Q: Workbench Access on the SmartDoc Sandbox

I am working on the Workbench courses in the JEE section. Should I use my company’s JEE server for these exercises or is there a SmartDoc JEE Sandbox?

Hi Jeannie, Right now, the SmartDoc Sandbox is an OSGi server. So, you should use your company’s JEE server for these exercises if you can. We could also consider a JEE server as a SmartDoc Sandbox. Would this be something of value for you? In other words, do you NOT have Workbench access to your own JEE server?

I have access to my own company JEE Servers. We have DEV, Stage AND PROD servers. But I don’t know if are systems are configured for the SmartDoc courses For learning purposes, it would be nice to have a SmartDoc JEE Server Sandbox that is configured for the Workbench courses.

Hi Jeannie, you bring up a good point. We setup a JEE server for you to try. I configured the server with the users and settings that are used in the Workbench courses. Can you let me know if this works for you? You can use your SmartDoc username and password. The server name is aemforms.info and the port is 8080. The PDF below has the login details for you.

Hi JP, I'm just wondering if you are planning on provide the JEE Workbench classes this year? If so, how soon? I would like to learn about the JEE processes how to create them. If not, I will learn my own. Thank you, Jeannie

Hi Jeannie, It's probably best for you to start with the online Workbench courses on your own. They are very good and I have been teaching them for years. Because many people are moving from JEE to OSGi, we will likely spend more of the Live Thursday sessions on OSGi.

I am working in the Introduction-to-Workbench.pdf document. I am on page 15 “Login to an AEM Forms Server”. Is this http://www.aemforms.info:4502/aem/start.html site still valid to get in to the AEM SmartDoc Sandbox Server for Workbench?

Hi Jeannie, that is the correct server, you just need to use the default port of a JEE server which is 8080. There is a screenshot on Step 5 that shows the Server Port Number should be set to 8080.
